Who we are

Play The Yorker is a cricket puzzle and gaming platform available at playtheyorker.com. When this policy says "we", "us", or "our", it means Play The Yorker. When it says "you", it means you — the person using the site.

We are based in India. If you are using this site from anywhere in the world, this policy applies to you.

What we collect

When you create an account, we collect:

• Your display name (the name you pick for the leaderboard)
• Your email address
• Your game scores, streaks, and tier progress
• The date you joined

When you play as a guest (without an account), we do not collect any personal information. Guest scores are stored locally on your device only and are not sent to our servers.

We do not collect your real name, phone number, address, or payment information.

How we use your data

We use your information only to run the platform:

• Display your name and scores on the leaderboard
• Track your daily streak and tier progress
• Let you compete in weekly giveaways
• Send you account-related emails if necessary

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever.

Advertising

We currently do not show any advertisements on the platform. Play The Yorker is ad-free as of this policy's effective date.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to run the platform:

• Firebase (Google) — stores your account data, scores, and leaderboard entries. Firebase is subject to Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy
• Google Fonts — loads fonts for the interface. Google may log font requests per their standard practices
• Hostinger — hosts the website files. Standard web hosting logs (IP address, page visited, timestamp) may be retained by Hostinger per their own privacy policy

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising tracking tools at this time.

Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage (not traditional cookies) to keep you signed in between visits and to save your daily game progress. This data stays on your device and is not shared with anyone.

Firebase may set its own cookies for authentication purposes. These are session management cookies, not advertising cookies.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Object to how we use your data

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days. Account deletion requests will be processed within 7 days.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Daily leaderboard scores are retained for 90 days. All-time leaderboard entries are kept indefinitely unless you request deletion.

If you delete your account, all your personal data is removed from our systems within 7 days.

Children

Play The Yorker is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes — particularly around advertising or data sharing — we will notify registered users by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
